Applications to the Emerging Leaders Development Award are covered by the EMGS 1-year eligibility extension policy. Serious health condition or care of a family member with serious health condition (i.e., COVID, mental health concerns, etc.). Other events, such as natural disaster or pandemic, that result in circumstances that disrupt productivity (i.e., lab closures, child/elder-care responsibilities, etc.).
This policy is designed to support applicants who are experiencing personal hardship and/or who have taken a leave of absence that impacted their career trajectory. This initiative speaks to the EMGS core value of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Please note that the extension of time does not apply to EMGS dues. No details or explanations are required to apply for the eligibility extension.
